A crafty utility, Hannaford is a product of the St Patrick’s Ballarat football factory. Hannaford is capable of playing on all 3 lines, but primarily played in the forward-half in his U18 year.

Playing for the GWV Rebels in the Coates Talent League, Oliver starred late in the season which saw him earn Team of the Year honours. This included 5 and 6 goal performances against Oakleigh and Geelong, respectively.

Hannaford tested elite for speed and agility at the 2024 Draft Combine - which in combination with his late season form saw him rapidly rise up draft boards.

GWS selected Hannaford with Pick 18 in the 2024 National Draft.
