Recruited from Yeronga South in Brisbane by the Lions, Kate was a key player in the Lions inaugural team where she played every game in the first season, was nominated for ‘Goal of the Year’ and won All Australian selection.
Kate’s elite pace comes from a background of Athletics and Touch Rugby where she has competed at the Pan Pacific Games and represented Australia at Under 20 Level. Kate is also the only AFL/W player who has played professionally with a pacemaker, after she started experiencing issues at the age of 10.
After three terrific seasons with the Lions which included two Grand Finals, Kate took the opportunity to move to St Kilda for their inaugural season. After a positive season in 2020, Kate unfortunately had a few injuries which hampered her output over the following seasons. Looking for a change in a hope to rediscover her fitness, Kate joined Hawthorn for their inaugural season in 2022 where they used her experience to galvanize a young group. Enjoying the season immensely at the Hawks, Kate retired at the conclusion of the season and with the ambition to grow her media profile.
In recent years, Kate has become a key part of Triple M’s AFL Coverage as an Expert Commentator, including the Thursday Rub. In addition she has featured on the Footy Talk podcast, and filled in on ‘Rush Hour’ as a co-host. Kate’s TV presence has also grown from being part of the Channel 7 team since 2022 for the AFLW Season, to now also being part of the ‘Arm Chair Experts’ team alongside Cam Luke & Adam Cooney, and being part of regular Sunrise crosses covering the weekend of footy. In 2024, Kate joined the Sportsbet team where she has been involved in their weekly analysis program ‘The Back Pocket’ and TV integrations.
Outside of Football, Kate is a qualified teacher and also an accomplished keynote speaker, sharing her journey in Womens Sport, and covering topics such as Leadership, Coaching, and Culture.
