One of the AFL’s elite midfielders, with four Best and Fairest’s and a place in Port Adelaide’s inaugural AFL Premiership to his name, Kane is a great of the Power and as a result, was inducted into Port's Hall of Fame in 2018. Kane surpassed previous games record holder Warren Tredrea in 2013, and finished his career with 300 games, retiring midway through the 2015 season.
Kane is co-host of the SEN 1116 hit breakfast radio show ‘Fireball’ on Monday and Friday morning. In addition, Kane appears on Channel 7’s ‘The Agenda Setters’ on Monday and Tuesday night, as well as ‘First Up’ on AFL.com.au on Sunday night. Kane also provides live expert commentary on-screen for AFL Matches on Channel 7, as well as AFL Nation on SEN.
In 2024 at the Australian Football Media Association Awards, Kane won the prestigious Alf Brown Award - awarded to the best overall media performer. Cornes also won the Lou Richards Medal and Best opinion/analysis in radio, TV or digital. AFMA judges said of Kane “No one has had a bigger presence in football this year, via television, radio and newspapers than Kane Cornes. No one. Now or in the past'.”
In 2025, Kane again claimed the Alf Brown Award and Lou Richards Medal, a testament to his consistency and hard-work. His bold, calculated and provocative commentary was praised for its sharp opinions, major news stories, revealing interviews and astute analysis.
Kane lives in Adelaide with wife Lucy, and his 3 son’s; Eddy, Raphael and Sonny.
