James O'Donnell is a key defender for the Western Bulldogs, known for his athleticism, courage, and rapid development at AFL level. He was signed as a Category B rookie in April 2023, having previously pursued a career in cricket before switching his focus back to football. A third-generation VFL/AFL player, O'Donnell followed in the footsteps of his grandfather Kevin and father Simon, who both represented St Kilda in earlier decades
