James Leake
Touted as the most versatile player in the 2023 draft crop, Leake was selected by the GWS Giants with Pick 17 in the National Draft.
A Tasmanian product, Leake’s performance for the Allies earned him All Australian Honours as a defender, a year in which the Allies won their first U18 National Championship.
Following a successful stint for the Allies, James returned to the Tasmania Devils in the Coates Talent League, where he played as a forward and kicked 15 goals in 5 games. Leake also gained valuable midfield experience at the Devils.
Leake debuted for the Giants in Opening Round, 2025, immediately adding versatility, speed, and decision-making to the Giants lineup. His ability to play across all three lines makes him a key long-term asset for GWS.
