Leigh has one of the most remarkable records as an AFL Assistant Coach. His knowledge of the game dates back to his playing days with North Melbourne, followed by Geelong which culminated in 68 Games and Grand Final appearances in 1994 & 1996.

 

As a coach, Leigh has held various positions including as a Senior Coach of Doutta Stars in the EDFL and Calder Cannons in Victoria’s premiere Under 18 Competition, before breaking into the VFL / AFL System.

 

Leigh was the coach of Geelong’s 2007 VFL Premiership, before undertaking roles as an Assistant Coach at Sydney, St Kilda, and North Melbourne, all of whom either played in Grand Finals or Preliminary Finals. Currently Leigh is the Development Coach at Essendon which includes being the Senior Coach of the clubs VFL team.

 

Known for his eye for talent and the ability to communicate with players one on one, Leigh has stayed ahead of the game and its trends, ensuring his importance to the club.
